Soko Hoshimi

A person with black, shaggy hair and tattoos on their arms and neck, smiling in front of a red brick wall, wearing a sleeveless black shirt with white gothic-style artwork.

Tattooing since 2017, I specialize in bold ornamental tattoos while prioritizing client care and accessibility. My art is informed by my study of the religious history and material culture of Asia & the Pacific, as well as my personal qigong practice. I love a good research project & spending time with my dog Kiku.

How does the deposit work?

A $100 deposit is required to secure your appointment. The deposit comes off of the final cost of the tattoo. Deposits are non-refundable in any circumstance, as they help ensure I am compensated for my time spent researching, gathering references, and drawing your design. Deposits are applied to the final cost of your tattoo. For multi-session projects, the deposit is rolled forward and applied to your final session cost.

Once a deposit has been paid, proposed design changes are at my discretion. Small alterations with plenty of notice may be acceptable, but please understand that a significant change from your original proposal may be refused and the appointment canceled.

How should I prepare for my tattoo?

Please reschedule if you have a fever, you're testing positive for or experiencing symptoms of COVID, Norovirus, or the flu, or if you've been exposed to someone who is experiencing these symptoms, within 5 days of our appointment.

Please do not wear strongly scented products, perfume, cologne, etc.

Please no guests. If for accessibility reasons you require an assistant during the session, please let me know with as much advance notice as possible.

What are your aftercare instructions?

Remove bandage after a minimum of 3 hours or as directed by your artist. If bandaged with second skin, the bandage may remain in place for 2-5 days*. Wash gently with warm water and a mild, liquid soap.

Pat dry gently with a clean towel and apply a thin layer of moisturizer discussed with your artist.

Wash and moisturize twice daily for two weeks. For the first two weeks, always wash your hands thoroughly with hot water and liquid soap prior to moisturizing or touching your tattoo.

Approximately 3-5 days into the healing process, your tattoo will peel. This is normal; do not pick at your tattoo, scrub or otherwise try to help it. Picking can result in prolonged healing, pigment loss, and infection.

Keep your tattoo out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 1 month. After a month, use sunscreen any time you are in the sun.

No soaking in water (swimming, baths, sauna, hot tub, etc)  for 2 to 3 weeks or until your tattoo is totally healed.

*If you experience fluid leaking from the bandage, any redness around the bandage, itching, burning, hives, or something that doesn’t seem normal, remove the bandage immediately under running water, wash and follow aftercare instructions.
